Sorry for the deer pic, but this is the only pic I have on the other side of the ponds. About 75 yards to the left (North) of this photo is 40 acres of soybeans or corn depending on the year.
There is an grown over ditch running through the field to my woods. Deer like that ditch
Taking a look around before heading home. I don't have any from my stand pictures as I have no deer stands
Nice looking hunting spot, which Md county? Also, your rifle appears to be a blued Encore?
Doc
Montgomery near the Frederick Co. line about a mile off of the river. I can hear the noise coming from Leesburg, VA.
The Encore frame and muzzle loader barrel are stainless. The slug barrel is blued.
You hunting close to the C& O Canal Federal property where the park service lets the deer grow big and those farmers/hunters who feed the park deer get to shoot them. I hunted a lease as a guest that bordered the C&O canal property in 2005-2007..... the deer would blow out of the park 30 to 40 in a herd at a time. I must have seen close to 200 deer from my climbing stand.
You are close to my area of Md. I bow hunt in Damascus and rifle hunt in Mount Airy...
Youth hunt today. It's hot and humid, I didn't expect to see much but they were on the move. My son missed a nice 8 point in the clear cut this eve. I think when he got a good look at the antlers he choked... but he wasn't upset.
I love the rifle. It's as Classic as it gets. A Mauser with a low power Weaver seems like the perfect tool to hunt right there.
These photos are so different than where/how we hunt and are interesting for us desert dwellers. They're beautiful pictures. It wouldn't be hard to have to look at those places all day.
Hunt with Class and Classics
Religion: A founder of The Church of Spray and Pray
Acquit v. t. To render a judgment in a murder case in San Francisco... EQUAL, adj. As bad as something else. Ambrose Bierce “The Devil's Dictionary”
Only thing this picture is missing is a yellow nylon cord sling and a gas gas station plastic car window cup holder hanging off the side with a cup of Krispy Kreme coffee... Makes me feel like I'm home.
Typical Western NY woods. Shot a lot of nice deer from this stand, but can’t hunt at all this year. Had emergency surgery to install pacemaker. Yes, it sucks.
Old Fishermen never die, we just get reel tired.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung. May you stay......Forever young
Dave, the panorama is rather deceiving as it makes it look much more open (and flatter) than it actually is. This is handwerk's gorgeous tract - IIRC, it was cut 12-ish years ago already.

That makes sense with a second look, the new growth looks about 10-12. I mistook what looks like maybe a beaver pond on the right for a landing type opening for piling, slashing, hauling. It looks like awesome country, reminds me of my old camp south of lake vermilion in MN.
What general part of the Flint Hills? I've driven through there several times via 35 and always time the drive so I get to see the area in the daylight - sunrise is spectactular. Driving from the eastern part of KS, it's like entering a different universe.

In Chase County, west of I35, north of Matfield Green just off 177. Anymore I feel claustrophobic in the more wooded eastern part of the state.
Hey folks. I am trying to figure out the fire image thing. I got my images posted in an album on that thread, but can only make them show up as a link here. What are you doing to get an actual image to appear here.

"Come, shall we go and kill us venison? And yet it irks me the poor dappled fools, Being native burghers of this desert city, Should in their own confines with forked heads Have their round haunches gored."
Here's some I snapped yesterday from a metal/wood ground blind I have on the Ouachita River. Have to drive in by ATV through the wildlife refuge to get back to it. If conditions get really bad and the water gets up, you have to come in by boat. The river is about 70 yards behind the stand.

West window:
North window: ( I put out a little rice bran here the other day and you can see the white mound at the end of the trail. Shot a pretty good-sized hog there at dark last night, in the rain. The coyotes got to eat too...)
On a clear day. This crossing is very good most years and I took this buck on opening weekend just before sundown. He was going left to right and was in the middle of the ford just to the left of the small island. That crossing is 112 yards from my elevated box stand.
High elevated stand. Low fence. There was a black bear about 230 yards from the camera in the tall Christmas trees slightly left and above center of the pic. Drove and hiked and sat and watched daylight till dark, saw two recent but not fresh deer tracks and zero deer the entire day. Great scenery but very few deer in the entire country.
